Bike specifications and UK prices, side by side
Most price comparison sites treat a bicycle as a product name and a number. BikeSpec records the whole specification of each bike sold in the UK, including groupset, frame material, wheel size, weight and geometry, then tracks what every retailer charges for it. You compare bikes on what they are made of, and only then on price.
What BikeSpec does
The site is being built around four things that existing comparison sites handle poorly for bicycles.
One page per bike, not per listing
The same bike is listed by half a dozen retailers under half a dozen different names. BikeSpec resolves those listings to a single product, so one page shows every stockist rather than six near-duplicate results.
Specification, not marketing copy
Groupset, frame material, fork, wheel size, tyre clearance, weight and geometry are recorded as structured fields, which means bikes can be filtered and compared on them.
Model year kept separate
A 2024 frame at a clearance price is a different product from the 2025 version at full price. The two are never merged, and the model year is always shown.
Size-level availability
A bike in stock is not much use if it is not in stock in your size. Availability is tracked per frame size rather than per product.
What every bike record holds
These are the fields captured for each bike. They are what makes filtering and comparison possible, and they are the reason the site exists.

The examples above illustrate the fields being built. The site does not yet display live retailer pricing.
Coverage at launch
The first release covers complete bicycles only. Components, clothing and accessories are not included, because a shallow catalogue across every category is less useful than a complete one across a few.
Gravel and adventure
Drop-bar bikes with clearance for wider tyres, from alloy entry builds upward.
Road
Alloy and carbon road bikes, grouped by build tier rather than by retailer category.
Hardtail mountain
The category where model year and generation changes cause the most confusion.
How the site is funded
BikeSpec earns commission through affiliate links to retailers. A commission is paid by the retailer, not added to the price you pay, and it does not influence how bikes are ordered or presented. Retailers cannot pay for placement, and prices are shown as they are published in each retailer's own data. Full detail is set out in the affiliate disclosure.
